As a plant lover, Lars uses Grow Lights across his home for his indoor plants. “Grow lights keep my plants thriving all year around” says Lars, “so I started to play with an idea where I could create a Tiny Treehouse with a dual purpose. A Tiny Treehouse that also helped plants grow.”
This year, Tiny Treehouses launched two new products to the range - both including a Grow Light seamlessly designed into the Treehouse model. It's a one-of-a-kind invention exclusively available at Tiny Treehouses. The Grow Light and comes with a timer installed, so that you can activate the lights automatically to nourish and feed your plants - no matter where they are in your home.
How Does it Work?
Our Grow Lights come with a USB plug and a 2m extension cable to make it easy to power from various sources. The lights come with a timer, enabling you to have them on for 8, 12 or 16 hours at a time, with an auto-on and auto-off function. It's a set-and-forget scenario.
In addition, the Grow Lights have adjustable lighting settings, so you can reduce the brightness according to the season or what each plant needs - or your own requirements to dim the lights.
Each Grow Light is installed as part of your puzzle assemble and will sit perfectly under your Treehouses. We have two options available build in the Grow Light range: The Island Cabana and the Sunrise Terrace.
This whole finished structure sits on an extendable pole, enabling you to adjust the height of the lights, according to your plants - ranging from 30-65cm, without compromising on stability.
The top area with the Treehouse and light sits is hinged, so the Grow Light can be angled according to the plants needs.
Importantly we have not forgotten the magic and charm of the fairy lights! Each of these two new Treehouses also comes with a string of LED fairy lights to complete the Grow Light and Tiny Treehouse set.
Why Use Grow Lights for Indoor Plants?
Indoor environments often lack the consistent, full-spectrum light that plants need to thrive. Grow lights bridge that gap by mimicking the sun’s spectrum and giving plants the boost they need for photosynthesis and overall vitality.
Benefits of Grow Lights:
-
Support healthy growth in low-light homes and apartments
-
Keep plants growing and flowering through fall and winter
-
Prevent yellowing leaves and leggy stems
-
Expand the types of plants you can grow indoors
Whether you’re nurturing a pot of herbs, or styling a shelf, the Grow Lights version of our Tiny Treehouses will not just make a beautiful statement, it will also help your plants flourish in any room or any corner of your home.
Why We Chose LED Grow Lights
There are a few types of grow lights available—LED, fluorescent (CFL), and full-spectrum bulbs. After researching performance, efficiency, and heat output, we chose to focus on LED grow lights for our lighting accessory range.
LEDs are long-lasting, low-heat, and energy efficient. They offer a full light spectrum for healthy growth, and because they don’t overheat, they’re perfect for smaller displays and tighter corners.
While CFLs are often used in larger grow setups, they tend to be bulkier, less energy-efficient, and can generate unwanted heat. LEDs, on the other hand, are compact and stylish enough to complement decorative displays while still giving your plants the light they need.
The blue spectrum relates to vegetation (roots, leaves, stems), the red relates to blooming (quantity and quality of produce and flowers).
White is the combination of all visible light wavelengths. It's important to keep in mind that plants want all light wavelengths, ultra violet to ultra red, including the green wavelengths. So our grow lights will show as white light, but will be offering your plants the full and accurate spectrum of light they need.
Where to Place Your Grow Lights
Placement matters—both for plant health and for showcasing your Tiny Treehouse display. Here’s how to get the best results:
-
Place your Tiny Treehouse mount with the Grow Light about 25cm above your plants to replicate natural sunlight.
-
Use a timer to deliver consistent exposure—most plants thrive with 12–16 hours of light per day. See our guide below to determine how much light depending on this type of plant.
-
Adjust light angles to reduce shadowing and encourage balanced growth. As the leaves grow you will need to move the Treehouse and Grow Light around.
-
Watch for signs that will tell you when to move your Grow Lights. Leaves and branches that are starting to lean towards the light means they might be getting too little light and need to get a bit close to the grow light. However, if your lights are too close, you will start to see that some leaves may be getting scorched because they are too close to the light.
Best Indoor Plants to Grow Under Lights
Not sure what plants to grow? With a Grow Light, the choices can be endless. You no longer need to sigh in despair when the plants you love - and have invested both time and money into don't thrive. With the right artificial light that a Grow Light offers, you can have your choice, and enjoy it too.
- Goeppertia insignis - Rattlesnake (formerly) Calathea lancifolia: A wild and tropical looking plant that is a perfect for pattern lovers. This plant can also seem to stagnate indoors, but see below the effect of the Grow Light. In 12 weeks the leaves are shooting upwards reaching for the light.
- Ctenanthe 'Grey Star': is another sculptural plant that, when thriving, creates a tall, but layered structural statement, that is not too bushy. As you can see in the before shots, the leaves can have a tendency to hang downward, and the plant can seem to stagnate in your home. This Tiny Treehouse
- Callisia: Cutely known as a Bubble Plant, or Pink Panther, this plant can tend to stay small indoors and lack the vivaciousness of its fully blooming self. Here below we have a before and after of the Pink Panther, using a Grow Light under the Island Cabana Tiny Treehouse.
-
Indoor Palm Plants: Their spidery leaves and ability to keep shooting out new palm fronds make them a great sculptural and bushy house plant, but they can fail to thrive.

Tips for Maintaining Your Grow Light Setup
-
Keep the bulbs clean so they shine at full brightness when required, but our Grow Lights come with adjustable brightness, so you can work with what your plant requires from one season to the next.
-
Remember to adjust the light height, placement and angle as your plants grow to avoid leaf burn.

-
All our grow lights come with a smart timer, enabling you to give your plants the amount of light they need to thrive, ranging from 8 hours, to 12 hours and 16 hours.

How much time should I set the lights for?
12 hours: Ideal for most houseplants and herbs like monstera, peace lilies, basil, and parsley to mimic a balanced day.
16 hours: Best for light-loving plants like succulents, cacti, and leafy greens such as lettuce and spinach that require extended light to grow strong and vibrant.
Remember to give your plants a nighttime rest—no one likes to work 24/7, not even plants!
